Information about Tioga Downs
Tioga Downs harness track is right off NYS Route 17, exit 62, in Nichols, New York. The town of Nichols, is located in Tioga County, in the southern tier of New York State. Just north of the Pennsylvania state line. See Map.
- The facility has 372 stalls in 6 barns. Each barn consists of 62 stalls, 4 wash stalls and 4 offices. The backstretch is open from April 1st to September 30th.
- The track is 5/8's mile oval, with a stonedust surface. It is a traditional track with no passing lane and recently rebanked and resurfaced by Greg Coon as a "safe" track, i.e.designed to reduce the concussion on the horse by 70%.
- Tioga will race May 3rd through September 21st in 2008, for a total of 57 days. Racing will start with Saturday (@6:50) and Sunday (@1:15)cards for the first two weeks. Fridays (@6:50) will be added starting May 16th and Tioga will continue to race three days a week until September 5th (the last racing Friday). Racing will continue on Saturday and Sunday until closing afternoon, September 21st.

- The racino contains 750 video gaming machines, a sports bar, simulcast theater, reasturants and buffets. It was specially designed to intergrate harness racing with the video gaming machines. Beautiful hand painted murals depicting harness raicng and a county fair theme abound in the racino.
- There is no on track housing for horsemen, however housing close to the track is available.
